Style Comeback: The Denim Skirt

I am unsure if the fashion gods were jumping the gun or if I just missed this trend completely, but apparently denim skirts were trending last year. Up until two weeks ago, I had not seen a denim skirt out and about. I was having brunch on a busy corner in Dallas, and I saw not one, not two, but about 5 denim skirts! It was then I decided I needed to look into this trend.
First stop, Google. I found numerous articles, including this one from The NY Post. Second step, search for celebs wearing denim skirts (see below). Kirsten Dunst captures my style perfectly and her look is soon to be copied. Just swap out strappy sandals for nude mules and there you have my new summer uniform.

I look at the denim skirt that same way I would jeans. You can mix and match it with anything! From a casual tank with sneakers to a simple white button down, the denim skirt is very versatile.  I recently picked up a medium wash denim skirt and have been pairing it with ringer tees. The vibe is very That 70s Show and I love it!

Brands from Levi's to Dolce & Gabbana are jumping on this trend so there is sure to be a style and price point for everyone. My next denim skirt purchase might be this little button front number from TopShop. I am loving the button front detail. More to come on that trend very soon!
