New Job, New Desk Set Up
It has officially been 4 weeks since I started my new job. 2021 brought some swift changes. The first and most exciting is a new job. As Director of Marketing for a nonprofit, the creative freedom is so refreshing and everyone I work with is so kind and funny.
With a new job, I thought it was time for a new workspace. I had a few things in mind when designing the space. Of course, I wanted it to be functional, but also stylish and unintrusive. I wanted the small corner to feel like it belonged there, and not just a random desk off to the side of our dining room. I feel like I accomplished my goals and spent less than $100 to create a space that is cozy and inspiring.
The first thing I purchased was this desk from Amazon. I already had a chair, but I did buy a navy blue cushion for comfort. The wooden stand I put my monitor on was a random find from At Home. I had plans of staining it but just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe when it warms up and I can stain it outside I will. The hanging lamp is an old basket that I turned into a pendant lamp. I am in love! It cost me only a few dollars to make since I already had the basket and the light fixture.
For a little flair, I added a corkboard with some of my favorite posts from places I've visited and people I love. I added a ZZ Plant and small dishes to hold stones, chapstick, and other odds and ends. I almost didn't buy a mouse pad, but I love this ergonomic one with wrist support. Wow, I feel old recommending a mouse pad, but it's better than a sore wrist!
Are you still working from home? Did you decorate your desk?
