What I Read: May 2026

Somewhere between the grey skies and a really good book, I found my way back here.

May was a great month of reading! I read two thrillers and a romance that I did not want to end.

Count My Lies by Sopfie Stava
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This May book club choice was divisive.
Sloane is a compulsive liar who talks her way into a nanny job with a wealthy New York couple, and things spiral from there. Halfway through the book, the perspective shifts to the wife, Violet, which I did not see coming! I do not mind an unreliable character, it makes for an unpredictable story.

Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Debbie Mullen has spent years running an advice column for the women of New England. Then her own life starts unraveling, and Debbie decides she is done being the bigger person. Classic McFadden.  Unputdownable and deliciously unhinged. I was rooting for Debbie the whole book.

This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I needed this book and didn't even know it. Lucy, a florist, and Felix, an oyster shucker, have undeniable chemistry, the only problem is he's her best friend's younger brother. Set against the most beautiful backdrop of Prince Edward Island, this slow-burn romance that spans several summers absolutely wrecked me. Carley Fortune never misses. This is my favorite read of the month by far and now all I want to read are summer romances!

What are you reading this month? Drop it in the comments — I need to keep the momentum going.
