Peace

Today, my heart continues to ache. With everything that has happened, especially, this past month, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on these sad times. What is happening in our country is terrifying and tragic. Everyday, it seems, more people are killing and being killed. My heart goes out to all those effected by these horrific events. From the Orlando victims to the Dallas shooting, this bloodshed must stop.
I often think to myself, "What can I do to help our world?" I spend my days working at a job I love and my free time writing for this blog that I love, but sometimes I think it's all a waste of time. I feel I should be doing something more. Something to better our country, our world. But what? What can I do? For now, the answer to this question is show kindness and love and peace. Love is greater than hate. If I can be kind to those I come in contact with, hopefully the kindness with spread. It's a simple plan, but all I can think to do. I will build people up.
The other day, various artists came together and wrote a song for the Orlando victims called "Hands,"There are a few verses that have resonated with me.

They can break the world

They can change it too

Can hold a gun

And hold your heart

Can put out fires

And make 'em start

I've been watching news

And seeing all this hate

Tell me is it wrong

To want a little change

During this time, I hope we can all come together and see that violence and hate is not the answer. "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." I hope you have a nice weekend and remember to be kind on one another.
