February Book Stack

I've talked about this before, but I tend to go through phases of reading. I get hooked on a book and finish it in a week, and then I don't pick up another book for a few months. I am trying my best to rectify this. In February, I read two books, which isn't an accomplishment to write home about (although I did text some friends to share the news). Both books drew me in immediately, and once I'm reeled in there's not stopping me.

Jo & Laurie by Margaret Stohl and Melissa de la Cruz

I read this book in 3 days. The cover says "A Romantic Retelling," and they were not kidding. If you are a fan of Little Women, you MUST read this book. Jo is my favorite character from the original book, and I loved getting to learn more about her through different authors' perspectives. This book inspired me to look into other  Louisa May Alcott books. Did you know Little Women is actually a 4 part series? Little Women, Good Wives, Little Men, and Jo's Boys. I ordered books 2-4 from Better World Books two days ago and they can't arrive soon enough!

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena

I love a good mystery book. Give me a who done it any day. This book was so full of twists and turns, especially in the second half. A couple's baby goes missing and the author takes us on a wild ride of suspicious detectives, plans gone bad, and a hysterical mother (who can blame her). Definitely, a must-read.
