Summer Reading Stack

When I was younger, I devoured books. I once read Tuck Everlasting cover to cover in an afternoon. I was transported to golden fields with Winnie and Jesse and traveled through the decades. I remember being so sad when I read the last page, just wishing there was more. Today, I miss that feeling of getting lost in a book. This summer I want to change that. I have a terrible habit of buying books and letting them collect dust. I recently discovered there is actually a term for that: tsundoku. BBC even wrote an article about this strange habit. I no longer want to fall into this category of book collectors. While I don't have piles upon piles of unread books, I do have a dozen (or two) books whose binding is still in perfect condition.

I wanted to ease into reading. It may sound strange, but with so many books to choose from, the idea of where to start felt daunting, just like with any task. I want reading to feel fun, not like a chore. I picked 5 books I am excited to read this summer. Five may seem like a low goal, but my hope is that I fly threw these and can move onto another small stack. But, baby steps.

Jaws by Peter Benchley. I have seen the movie at least 20 times. It is one of my all time favorite movies. I figured it's time to read the book.

Winter of Summers by Michael Faudet. Ever since I read both of Rupi Kaur's poetry books, I have been discovering other poets. I also read Dirty Pretty Things by Michael Faudet and loved his writing.

Sex and Rage by Eve Babitz. I picked this book up a few months ago. I have heard great things about this author, and I am eager to see what all the fuss is about.

Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. This book tells the story of one day is Mrs. Dalloway's life and her wandering mind while she is preparing for a  party. An entire book centered around one day really intrigued me.

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory. I started this book a few days ago and am up to chapter six. So far I really like the storyline. The book started out strong and immediately pulled me in.

What books will you be reading this summer?
