Summer Bucket List 2023

Summer has officially arrived! The first day of summer was absolutely perfect. The sun shone in the bright blue sky and a soft breeze helped keep the heat at bay. The forecast for this weekend is not so lovely, but we need the rain! My little veggie garden is thirsty.

For spring I made a bucket list so I thought I would do the same for summer. Here are a handful of things I'm looking forward to this summer in Erie, PA.

Our first summer in Erie, Brandon and I went to Greek Fest. It was our first Erie festival so it holds a special place in my heart. Our friend Erin was in town that weekend and the three of us had such a blast! This summer my best friend MJ will be in town for Greek Fest! I am looking forward to the Ouzo Lemonade, gyros, dancing, and flower crowns.

Erie has free live music almost every day of the week during the summer months. Starting July 11 at Liberty Park is the first 8 Great Tuesday event.  You can bring chairs, blankets, and food or you can try something new at one of the food trucks. Liberty Park overlooks the bay which provides a beautiful backdrop. If you stay long enough you might catch the world's 3rd best sunset.

Last year, some friends from my old job took me kayaking in the lagoons at Presque Isle State Park. It was so peaceful. I cannot wait to do it again. I think MJ and I might give it a go when she's in town next month.

It really is all about the music in the summertime. Frontier Park holds Erie's Blues & Jazz Fest each year. This free event is a three-day music fest featuring local, national, and international artists. It will be my first time going to this event and I heard it's a lot of fun!

I am a big brunch girlie. Bay House has been on my foodie bucket list for a few months and this summer I am determined to check it off. I have heard great things about their food and drinks. Apparently Bay House has some awesome cocktails and delicious food such as crepes and pasta specials.

When I think summer I think farmers markets. I already went to one last weekend, The LEAF Open Market is every other Saturday from 10-2 pm at Frontier Park. On Sundays in Perry Square is the Downtown Erie Farmers Market. I went to this market once last year, but want to make a point to go as often as possible for fresh produce and flowers.

What's on your summer bucket list?
