A Necessity or an Accessory?

The watch. When it was first created, the watch was used for the sole purpose of being able to tell the wearer the time. Fast forward a couple centuries and today the watch can be viewed as more of an accessory than a necessity.

I have owned a watch or two in my day, but I never felt inclined to wear it. After seeing some fabulous watching on friends and all over the internet, I decided I need one. I had my eye on the gorgeous Michael Kors gold watch pictured above, but it is a pretty penny. I figured I should not invest a huge amount of money into a watch just yet. I don't want to buy a $200 watch and never wear it. So instead, I ventured over to my new favorite online shopping site, Asos.com, and searched the women's watches.
Not only did Asos have an incredible gold watch, that is very similar to the Michael Kors one, it was also a great price! I have already worn it twice (even though I do need to get it sized), and it is stunning. It is my little gold time telling child. This watch is gorgeous in the box, and with the right ensemble, I honestly find it really pulls an outfit together for a classy and elegant feel. Who knew a watch could do so much?

I am in love! An outfit post featuring this gorgeous piece of artwork (too much?) is coming soon! Until then, I leave you with this quote I heard on my new favorite show- thank you AlmostBritain!- The Walking Dead. This quote is about a watch. One of the characters is asked why he always wears his watch even though time really doesn't matter in their situation anymore, and this was his response...

“...I give you the mausoleum of all hope and desire...I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you might forget it now and then for a moment and not spend all of your breath trying to conquer it. Because no battle is ever won he said. They are not even fought. The field only reveals to man his own folly and despair, and victory is an illusion of philosophers and fools.”
-William Faulkner, The Sound and the Fury

What is your watch style? Gold, silver, funky, classic? I'd love to see your favorite watch! Please share!

  1. Ahhhh the watch is a NECESSITY! I have a MBMJ one that is silver with cyrstals as the numbers and I adore its simplicity. I want the MBMJ one that is rose gold and has a dark green face that fades to clear....that'll be my funky one haha I love bigger watches, too, not a fan of the dainty ones.

Yours, my blogger buddy, is gorgeous!!!

  2. NECESSITY of course! I got my first watch when I was nine and I haven't stopped wearing one since! My only downfall was during the baby-g or g-shock years (remember those??) when I switched from analog to digital and now I can't tell time as well as I used to. LOL.
