My Favorite Things in August

Happy September! It is my favorite month of the whole year and it's not even my birthday month. This month holds the beauty of fall and the start of brisk autumn nights. But before all that, there was August. August was filled with delicious smells and homegrown sunflowers.

In August, my kitchen was put to good use. I did a lot of experimenting with Thai recipes. I stocked up on a few commonly used ingredients so I can make a majority of dishes any night of the week. This in-depth article helped a lot. The Thai Food Tour continues tonight with this Green Curry. I also subscribed to Bon Appétit magazine and already have a pile of new recipes to try. I suspect September will see it's fair share of cooking as well.

One of my best friends from high school came to visit at the beginning of August. We had a great time renting a bench surrey at Presque Isle Park and making a Target run... twice. We both heart Target so much. She was looking for the Love Home Planet Re-Wear Dry Wash Spray. I picked it up a few days later after wishing I had it on hand a few times. It's perfect to freshen up a pair of jeans or a dress you only wore for a few hours.

The Lover album has been on repeat since August 23. London Boy. Miss Americana. Daylight. False God. I cannot pick a favorite.

In May, I planted sunflower seeds. These past few months of watching a little seed flourish into a 6 foot sunflower has actually been magical. The first sunflower head bloomed last week and others are starting to open up. Next year I plan on documenting the whole process and planting a lot more seeds.
