A Weekend in NY

Happy Wednesday! I am getting back into the groove of things after a long, eventful weekend in Western New York.

I took a half-day on Friday and drove to Buffalo. Friday night, my dad and I made Reubens for dinner and watched Someone Like You. Later that evening, I visited with one of my oldest friends, Emily. She and her husband are expecting their first child soon! We just sat and talked for hours. It was so nice to catch up.

On Saturday, I spent that day with my mom. We originally had plans to go to a stained-glass class, but totally switched gears and hit up the outlet mall instead. It was so fun to go shopping with her! It has been a long time since we had a girls' shopping day. I found a couple cute tops at Loft and Express. After a few hours of shopping, we worked up an appetite. My mom took me to a local Italian spot called Joey's. The weather had picked up by then, and as the snow started up we stepped into the warm and cozy restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Parm. It was a huger portion and so good!

When we got home, we were both so stuffed. We plopped down in the living room and watched pairs figure skating. Sunday morning was spent relaxing. My mom makes the best breakfast! After breakfast, we stopped in my favorite antique shop, The Old Chapel. It's full of beautifully crafted items and vintage goods. I usually go home with something special, but nothing jumped out at me this time around. My mom, however, fell in love with a maple desk. She left without it, but I'm waiting for a phone call any day letting me know she went back to get it.

Sunday afternoon I stopped by my dad's house to visit before heading back to Erie. But there was one last stop I had to make. Cupcaked Bakery, based out of Ellicottville, just opened a second location a few miles down the road from my dad's house. For our wedding, Brandon and I ordered a variety of desserts. I was feeling sentimental (and satisfying a sweet tooth) so I stopped by the new store to pick up some goodies. I left with a bag full of sweet treats, including a dozen macarons, a cereal marshmellow treat, and banana pudding. I did some damage, but I just have no self-control in a bakery.

The drive home was sunny and quick. I jammed out to my 'Liked Songs' playlist on Spotify and made it home in no time. I had such a great time visiting with friends and my family, but gosh it was good to be home. Sunday night, Brandon and I made dinner and split some macarons for dessert. The perfect end to the perfect weekend. Did you have any fun plans over the long weekend?
