Erie Local Spotlight 2022: Purrista Cat Café

Monday was the Grand Opening of the Purrista Cat Café. I remember hearing about this really cool concept over a year ago and it's finally here! From the turnout I saw on Monday, the Erie community is very excited as well.

The café and cats are in separate rooms connected by a double doorway. There are a variety of ways to interact with the cats. You can grab a drink and a treat in the café and watch the cats from a big window. If you are a cat lover, you can join the cats and maybe even take one home! Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time if you want to visit with the cats. There are only a certain number of people allowed with the cats at a time to make sure the sweet kitties are comfortable. The best part about the café is that all the cats are available for adoption through Because You Care. Not only can you choose to just visit with the cats, if you form a special bond you can fill out an adoption form and add a new member to your family!

But I am getting ahead of myself! When you first arrive, you enter through the café. My first thoughts as I walked in was how bright and cheery the space was. I also loved the sleek white walls mixtures with various textures, from the plants to the wicker wall art. My favorite aspect are the hand drawn murals. The 'For the Love of Cats' mural and other line drawings were created by Rachel Travis, a local artist who is most well known for her tattoo art.

Once you are in the cat section of the café, the décor changes and creates a very calm atmosphere. The tans and greens are so beautiful. When I arrived around 3pm, all the kitties were pretty tuckered out from the rush earlier in the day. That was fine with me. I went around to peak and pet all the cuties. A few opened their eyes to stretch before getting comfortable again. They were all so sweet.

Not only were the cats so sweet, everyone who came into to visit was so nice. Everyone I was chatting with was so excited to be at the cat café. The volunteer was so welcoming and informative about each cat and their quirks. It was just a very pleasant experience and so fun to bond over the little fluffs.

I am so excited to visit Purrista again for the delicious chai latte, sweet treats, and adorable cats. If you want to enjoy a cup of coffee and meet some cute, adoptable kitties, make a reservation today!
