What I Read: August 2022
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I am a big fan of TJR. I enjoyed this book, but it did take me a few weeks to finish it. I was never eager to pick it up. For me, the story was a slow burn. No pun intended. I'm not sure if it was the nonlinear timeline or the fact that I didn't fall in love with any of the characters, but it wasn't my favorite TJR read. If you are looking for an easy read that involves many character viewpoints and storylines, definitely give this a go.
I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. I am always skeptical of CoHo books. I find the love stories to be so unrealistic, but the twists in this book were so good. I read this book in less than two days. Fallon was a relatable main character and I enjoyed her growth throughout the book. Good ol' Colleen always gets me out of my reading slumps.
Daisy Darker: A Novel by Alice Feeney
I am getting excited for spooky book season! This book was great. I read it in two days. I did guess what was going on about 2/3 of the way through the book, but an additional plot twist kept me on the toes. If you are looking for a scary thriller, pick this up for sure.
