Thrift Finds: Falling for Blue

There has been a strange phenomenon taking place during the last few trips to the thrift shops. Everything I come home with is blue! Now, this is not too unusual when thrifting for home decor. The three main colors in our home are blue, brown, and white. But when it comes to clothes, I tend to reach for any and all colors.

Before we jump into my new blue wardrobe pieces, I did find a blue piece to add to my mug collection. I found this Van Gogh Irises mug yesterday for 50 cents! This print is currently hanging in my dining room. when I saw this and the price, I knew it was coming home with me. I used this mug all day for my tea. It makes me so happy and reminds me of going to the Van Gogh exhibit last winter with my soon-to-be step-sister where I bought the Irises print. And yes, that is a Christmas tree you see in the background. It snowed today and I used that as an excuse to decorate early.

When I saw this vest, I pictured the complete outfit in my head immediately. A crisp white button-down, sleek trousers, and loafers. I can also see this paired with a button-down and a skirt. Very Cher from Clueless.

I wore this very cozy Gap sweater during my first week of work at my new job. I paired it with a blue pair of pants that were also purchased secondhand. I have a feeling I will get a lot of use out of this sweater. It's light enough for a nice spring day, but can be layered for cooler winter weather.

Last but not least is this absolutely incredible faux suede wrap skirt. The color is a bit off in this photo, is a brighter blue than shown here. It is so soft and made of thick material. It will be perfect in the winter. I picture this skirt paired with brown-heeled boots and a chunky white sweater. Simple, but classic. I really want the skirt to shine. Today we had our first snowfall, so I might be styling this skirt sooner than I thought!

Is there a color you tend to reach for more often than other colors?
