Erie Local Spotlight 2022: Werner Books

I talked about Werner Books in the past on Independent Bookstore Day, but I just love this book shop so much it needs its own spotlight. 

I discovered Werner Books via Google when I was on the prowl for local bookstores. Located off Peach Street in the Liberty Center, this bookstore is more than meets the eye. From the outside, one would think this is a small shop, but once you step inside, that assumption is quickly rectified. This bookstore stretches back and every inch is filled from top to bottom with books just waiting to be read. 

Werner Books has a great selection of new books, older books, and classics. I stop in a few times a month and attend their fun events as often as possible. I went to the release party for It Starts with Us by Collen Hoover. There was wine and snacks, and, of course, the new book. I also just stopped in last weekend for their open house where I purchased two books and was bale to get 15% off my purchase. The owners, Kyle and Lauren, came up with a great idea to have a wheel of different offers from a free tote bag, free bookmark, and a discount. Local coffee and homemade gingerbread cookies were free to enjoy.

The best part about Werner Books is the sense of community the store has created. Every time I stop in, I am greeted with a big, friendly smile and the owners know me by name. I have never experienced this before and that small gesture means so much to me. I have never been a regular somewhere and I love it!
