What I Read: June 2024
My reading slump came to an abrupt end in June when I flew through five books. All the books I read were enjoyable and among the five, four books were thrillers. I have a type, can you tell?
The past few months I have been experimenting to find the best format to present my monthly reads. I was providing a short summary and then giving my critque, but there are so many resources for book reviews, I've settled on keeping things short and sweet. So here it goes...
The Inmate by Freida McFadden
⭐⭐⭐
Once again Freida McFadden's fast paced thrillers helped me out of a reading slump. While I was not completely sold on this book, it did keep me guessing and had the classic Freida twist at the end. How does she do that every time? This book launched me into reading for the rest of June and for that I am thankful.
The Maid's Diary by Loreth Anne White
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book reeled me in quickly! I was hungry for a good thriller after The Inmate left me wanting for more. Kit is a maid who likes to snoop. This little hobby turns deadly!
The Housemaid's Secret by Freida McFadden
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I kept the maid niche going and finally read the second book of The Housemaid series. Millie gets a new job working for a couple in a beautiful penthouse apartment in NYC. The husband makes millions and the wife.. well she never leaves her room. Millie wants to help but things are not what they seem.
The Reunion by Meghan Quinn
⭐⭐⭐⭐
After reading three thriller books in the span of 8 days I needed a palette cleanser. This was a cozy story about family, love and new beginnings. I really enjoyed this book and want to read more by Meghan Quinn.
The Housemaid is Watching by Freida McFadden
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book was quite different from the first two. Millie and Enzo have created a life and Millie is no longer a housemaid... but her neighbors have a housemaid who is a little bit strange.
