My Everyday Clean Skincare Products

I have slowly been switching over all of my beauty and skincare products to clean products. My clean skincare collection is something I am very proud of. This amazing collection of products did not come together overnight. I tested quite a few brands and products before finding what works for me. I am still finalizing one last product category that I will touch on more later.

You may be wondering why I went through the trouble instead of sticking with what I'm used to? It all comes down to wanting to use products that are good for me and the planet. I want the products I use on a daily basis to have an ingredient list that I can pronounce and that isn't full of synthetics and chemicals. If you are new to clean beauty or just want to know more, let's start with the basics.

What is clean beauty?

"Clean beauty is used to describe cosmetics formulated without toxic ingredients. Unfortunately, there is not a universal definition of clean beauty since it's not regulated by the government." Tara Foley, founder of clean beauty mecca Follain, says, "I believe clean skincare prioritizes human and environmental health and restricts ingredients that are harmful to that. Clean skincare uses nutritious, plant-based ingredients as much as possible, and safe synthetics as necessary for preservation or performance." These quotes are from this Martha Stewart article, "Everything You Need to Know About Clean Skincare. If you want to read more, I found this to be very helpful.

Now that we have the basics down, let's take a look at the clean skincare products I am loving and why each product is considered clean.

1. Ole Henriksen Glow Out Dark Spot Toner ($16) This toner is so great. I've used it off and on over the years,  but I'm not sure why I ever stopped using it. I see results in just a few days!

How is this product clean? This product is made without parabens and is cruelty-free.

2. cocokind revitalizing eye cream ($18) I love this stuff! It goes on smoothly and the formula isn't too thick. The metal applicator smooths and cools. This is my favorite step of my skincare routine.

3. cocokind pore refining concentrate ($14) I use this on my T-zone and have noticed the pores on my cheeks are much smaller. I love the rollerball applicator for easy use.

How are these products clean? Cocokind products are plant-powered, cruelty-free, sustainable, and transparent. Their packaging now shows sustainability facts, which break down the carbon footprint for a product’s life cycle. This simple breakdown helps me understand my impact is on the environment when I purchase cocokind products. That is pretty cool. Learn more about cocokind's transparency here.

4. Starface moisturize on Mars ($12) This is by far my favorite moisturizer of all the ones I have used in my life! This does not cause me to break out at all and goes on so light and smooth. I highly recommend this product! I also love their Hydro-Stars for stubborn pimples.

How is this product clean? Starface products are vegan and cruelty-free.

5. Caudalie Grape Water ($10) This fine mist is so refreshing. I apply this throughout the day for a little refresh and I like to throw it in my bag to use it on the go. It's super hydrating and keeps any redness at bay.

How is this product clean? This product is vegan and comes in recyclable packaging. I discovered this product when I was browsing the Clean at Sephora section. Clean at Sephora is formulated without a list of over 50 ingredients, including sulfates (SLS and SLES), parabens, phthalates, and more.

6. ILIA Lip Wrap Hydrating Mask ($26) My lips were so dry and cracked this winter and this product saved them! I would apply liberally each night. This lip mask has moisture-boosting Salicornia (Sea Succulent), Hyaluronic Acid,  antioxidant-rich Mango Butter, and Papaya Enzymes that gently exfoliate. Hello! No wonder this amazing lip mask brought my dry lips back to life!

7. ILIA Blue Light Mist ($18) This is the newest product to my regime and I am really liking it! This mist helps boost skin's defenses against blue light from tech devices and environmental pollutants. You can also use it to set your makeup or rehydrate your skin during the day. A powerful 3-in-1 product I am happy to add to my skincare army.

How are these products clean? ILIA products are all a bit different, but many of them cruelty-free, gluten-free, silicone-free, vegan, and petroleum-free. ILIA's mission is to protect and revive skin. "We learned early on that not every natural ingredient is good for the skin, nor is every synthetic bad. Clean beauty is where those two collide—with conscious, carefully-selected ingredients, and no compromises." They also have a great recycling program that I will definitely take advantage of once I use up my products. That's right they will recycle their products and others!

You may have noticed none of these products have SPF. The La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer with SPF was a monthly favorite back in February. While I still use this paraben-free product, I am seeking a new SPF moisturizer. After some time using this product, it does not agree with my skin. Even though it is oil-free, it made my skin a tad too oily for my liking. I just ordered the cocokind Daily SPF after hearing some awesome reviews and I am very excited to try it out!

I hope you enjoyed learning about the clean skincare I love to use every day. Are familiar with any of these brands? What are your thoughts on clean skincare products? Are you interested in making the switch? Coming up soon will be the clean beauty and haircare products I can't get enough of!
