National Gardening Day: My Favorite Gardens

Happy National Gardening Day! I thought I would share some photographs I've taken of beautiful gardens in Buffalo, Dallas, Brooklyn, and D.C.

One of my favorite places to spend an afternoon is among nature. Before we moved to Erie in 2019, I would spend many an afternoon wandering around the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. I had a membership, and B and I would visit at least once a month. These days I enjoy the flowers and trees at Frontier Park, but I love looking at old photos I've taken at the Buffalo Botanic Garden.

Before Covid halted any travel plans, I loved stopping by botanical gardens when visiting other cities. Two of my favorites are the United States Botanic Garden and the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

The United States Botanic Garden is located right near the United States Capitol, which is so beautiful. The architecture and decorative ceilings are just stunning. If you ever get the chance to go to the Capitol, I highly recommend it. Afterward, you can walk right over to the botanic garden.

In October of 2018, I flew to Dallas to visit some friends. While they were working one day, I went on a little adventure to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Located on the shores of White Rock Lake, the Arboretum is 66 acres of endless beauty and discovery.  I easily took over 100 photos that day.

Last, but not least, is the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. When I lived in NYC, I always took advantage of Central Park, the museums, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Right now, the cherry blossoms are almost in full bloom. In April 2015, I experienced cherry blossom season with some friends and it was breathtaking. We spent hours admiring the variety of cherry blossoms, taking pictures, and people watching. It was such a special day.

This summer I would love to visit the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. It is over 460 acres of gardens, woodlands, and special exhibits. It sounds like a dream! Have you ever been to the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden or any of the gardens mentioned?
