What I Read: April 2023

I have been in a serious reading slump. The last time I posted a "What I Read" blog was back in November! I'm not sure what was going on, but reading was just not in the cards the past few months. It was not without trying! In February, I started to read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I was so excited to read this book, but would only make it a few pages before setting it down and wouldn't reach for it until a few days later. Thank goodness for CoHo, she always gets me out of a reading rut! I am pleased to say I read 3 books this month, and I am very excited about my TBR pile (that has majorly increased in number over the last 5 months.

Never Never by Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher

I read this book in a few days. Right off the bat I was drawn in by the story. I needed to know what was going on! Why did Charlie and Silas only remember certain things, like how to use Google Maps, driving a car, and texting, to name a few, but they could not remember who they were? Most of the book is a wild goose chase to figure out how to get their memory back. The kicker was they only had 48 hours and then their memory would be erased again! Definitely not the usual smutty content we are used to from Colleen Hoover, but intriguing just the same.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This book has been on my radar for years! I hate to admit it, but I started this book back in February (after owning it for a very long time). I picked up up again in April and struggled through the first half. Once I hit husband number three, I was hooked. Evenly is a very interesting and dynamic character. Sometime you love her, envy her and sometimes you hate her. By the end of the book, I had tears in my eyes. I really enjoyed this book and am really looking forward to the series adaptation!

Verity by Colleen Hoover

Wow, I could not put this book down. Can CoHo please write more thrillers!? Similar to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, I have had this book for some time. I was hesitant to read this because I knew part of the storyline had to do with a dead child and that is not a nice topic. This book was dark, twisted and captivating. When I read the last line, my jaw was on the floor.

After that intense thriller, I needed something a little lighter. I picked up Emily Henry's newest book from Werner on Tuesday. I am already 40 pages into Happy Place and I am looking forward to reading that all weekend.
