My Perfect Erie Day

Sometimes the perfect day just falls in your lap. That was certainly the case a few Saturdays ago. It started with a slow morning, which I savor.

Around 10 a.m., I picked up a few goodies from Herb & Honey Bakery. They baked a special Valentine's Day treat: Chocolate Covered Strawberry Croissants. It was huge and so delicious! The inside of the crissant was filled to the brim with a light, airy strawberry whipped cream. This decident treat is by far the best pastry I've ever had from H&H.

After picking up my parties, I made the very quick drive over to Lawrence Park to meet a friend for coffee. Once Coffee in the Park, new ownership bought the space and transformed it into The Park Coffee and Bread Co. I was on a chocolate strawberry kick that day and ordered a speciality drink, the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Latte. This hit the spot. It was not overly sweet and had the perfect amount of strawberry flavor with a smooth chocolate finish.

After chatting over coffees for a bit, my friend and I parted ways. I made my way downtown to stop in Glass Growers Gallery and The Dollhouse. I didn't end up buying anything, but I do have my eye on a kaleidoscope from GGG. Why is it the older we get, the more we crave things from our childhood?

Glass Growers had just unveiled their newest exhibit, Eartscapes By Deb Berkebile. Berkebile's work is a feast for the eyes. Many of her pieces are made with paint and free motion sewing. Some pieces feature fabrics as well. The texture and colors of these pieces were mesmerizing and the various mediums slowly unveiled themselves the longer you looked at each piece. The Grand Canyon piece is my personal favorite.

After browsing the downtown shops, I stopped in E. Lane Boutique on the West side of town. I won a giveaway they hosted on Instagram a few days prior so I wanted to pick up the gift card and do a little shopping. I tried on a handful of things, including this cozy brown sweater. I ended up buying a beautiful and colorful vest that I have been wearing nonstop. It's a great transitional piece from winter to spring.

I stopped home for a bit before Brandon and I decided on Federal Hill Smokehouse for lunch. I saw on their Instgram page, they had Brisket Cheeseburgers on speical that day. This burger is made with smoked brisket and topped with cheese, housemade pickles, and their secret sauce. Just thinking about this burger makes my mouth water.

The remainder of that Saturday was spent relaxing. We watched the new episodes of Love is Blind, and I finished The Teacher by Freida McFadden that evening. It was the perfect Erie Saturday. It included all of my favorite things: friends, food and local fun!
