Make Up Inspired by Selena Gomez

I love Selena Gomez! She is amazing in Wizards of Waverly Place! Her timing is impeccable, and she can truly act. When it comes to singing, she definitely has some pipes. I am in love with her newest song, "Love You Like a Love Song." It has a techno/retro feel to it that is very unique. The video itself is rather strange and random, but that's what I love most about it. Besides her voice, I love all the various scenes with Selena wearing some very fun outfits. But what I noticed most was the fun, bright and bold makeup. There are two looks that inspired me, and definitely, want to try out one of these days.

My first favorite look has bright eyes and bold lips.

Usually, my rule of thumb is, if you are going to do a bright and bold color, just do it on one feature of your face. But this look is incredible with both the bright purple eyes and fierce red lips. The purple compliments her skin tone beautifully, and the silver in the inner corners of her eyes really makes the look pop! It's also my favorite part of the look. I love red lips. I think it is a classic lip shade that can easily go from sweet to sultry. Her cheeks have a light peach hue to them, which is perfect to offset her eyes and lips.
To replicate this look here are the products I would use:
For the eyes, I would cover my lid and outline the eye with Mac's Vibrant Grape. It's a beautiful deep shade of purple that almost matches the color Selena is wearing perfectly. For the inner eye, Urban Decay Glide-On Eye Pencil in Dime is a gorgeous silver. For the lips, I think Revlon has great lipstick, and the color Certainly Red looks like a dup for what Selena has on. And last but not least, for the cheeks, Rimmel London Lasting Finish Blendable Powder, Blush, & Highlighter in Autumn Catwalk are three gorgeous pinkish nudes.

My second favorite look features a thick wing tip eye, hot pink lips, and light pink cheeks.

I have been playing around with lipstick a lot lately, and my next lipstick adventure is going to be with hot pink shades. This music video has given me the inspiration to play with bright pink lips. For the lips, I would use Milani in Rose Hip. Can you say NEON pink? It's amazing! For the eyeliner, I would have to go where I have never been brave enough to go before... liquid eyeliner. I think in order to get this dramatic wingtip, you would have to pull out all the stops and just go for it! I would suggest the Maybelline Line Stiletto Precision Liquid Linear in Blackest Black 501. And for the final touch, I would use MAC Pink Swoon for the blush. It's a very pink blush, but with one or two light swipes, your cheeks will be the perfect hint of pink.

What do you think of these looks? Do you like Selena's new music video? What are your favorite looks from the video?

*Thank you Just Jared, Jr. for the pictures!

  5. I just saw this video last night and loved how random and eccentric it was. I've always loved her, she's one of the few her age that act appropriate and true to herself! Both are such good looks, so this was a great post!
