What I Read: September 2023

When September hit, I was all in for fall. This included my reading list, which was made up primarily of thrillers and some witchy books. My genre took a turn once I finished Circe and craved more Greek God fiction. I read four books in September, two in the Greek God genre, and loved them all!

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. I discovered this book on BookTok. That is where I find a lot of my book inspo and it hasn't led me astray yet! From page one, Mika Moon drew me in. This very wholesome story is ultimately about the lost being found. It is an easy read with a heartwarming story.

Circe by Madeline Miller. This book was glued to my hands for three days. I will admit the first 80 pages were slow but necessary to build out the characters and tell the backstory. This book singlehandedly got me hooked on Greek God fiction. I have three more books of this genre waiting to be read.

Too Late by Colleen Hoover. I struggled to get into this book. Usually, CoHo books are great at getting me out of a reading rut, but this book just didn't do it for me. A young college girl is stuck in a horrible relationship with a drug dealer and falls in love with an undercover agent. The plot sounds great but read at your own risk.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. After reading Circe, I needed to find ore Greek God fiction and luckily that is Madeline Miller's bread and butter. This book focused on Achilles and his companion, Patroclus, their friendship blossomed into something so much more. This beautifully written book swept me away to faraway lands.
