Instagram Accounts I've Been Loving Lately

Instagram is my favorite social media platform. I have found funny memes, beautiful images, and inspiration for everything from wedding dresses to home decor. It's a way to express one's self and stay in touch with friends. It can also be a place where you wallow in self doubt and with a pinch of jealousy comparing yourself to others.
In an effort to improve my mental health, I often unfollow accounts that make me feel bad. Some accounts, mostly meme accounts, use negativity to try to be funny. Trust me, I love a good joke, but not at the expense of others or my wellbeing.
My Instagram feed is very different from what it was a few years ago and even a few months ago. Now when I scroll through my feed I see beautiful images, inspiring quotes and tips on how to improve myself physically, mentally and emotionally. Here are a few of my favorite accounts:

The Positively Present account is full of beautiful drawings created by a DC artist and author. Not only is her work playful, colorful and fun, it has actually provided me with advice and insight on how to handle tough days. Some days when you are down and out, you forget the tools that can help you. This post, for instance, reminded me on a not-so-great-day to reach out to my friends. Just saying hi to them and talking about how they have been doing helped reenergize me and remind me I am loved.

This is another awesome account by a talented artists. People I've Loved pairs her drawings with words of advice, or sometimes just funny and relatable everyday occurrences. In all honestly, her images have made me felt at ease with how my mind works. Sometimes I can get overwhelmed and I just want to do absolutely nothing. Sometimes, my emotions are running high and I feel everything. Whatever seems to be going on, her account has a post that reassures me that no matter how I am feeling, it's okay. Sometimes you just need a little reminder.

I started following Lisa Frank about a month ago. Not only does this account remind me of my childhood, the rainbow colors bring me so much joy. When I was in middle school, my next door neighbors and I formed a Lisa Frank Sticker Club. We could meet in my front yard, build a treehouse under the willow tree, and trade Lisa Frank stickers. I had a LF sticker box and pages and pages of colorful stickers. Gosh, I wish I still had that. Now, whenever I come across LF stickers, I have to grab them. I put them on cards and envelopes I send to my friends. I have found $1-3 sticker and coloring books at Dollar General! If you are a fan like me, you have to check it out.

Neeyaz is the founder of Get The Flour Outta Here. She is an incredible health coach and a beautiful person. I first met Neeyaz through a mutual friend when I was living in NYC a few years ago. Neeyaz started GTFOH in 2017 and has since made it her full-time career. Boss woman! I have been working with Neeyaz for a few weeks and I have never felt better! I am eating so much healthier, have more energy and just feel so good! Before I decided to become a client, I followed her Instagram for health (and life) tips. If you are interested in learning more about the foods we eat and our physical and mental health, give her a follow. You will not be disappointed! I am so thankful to have reached out to Neeyaz. It has only been a few week, but my health (and life) is changing and improving.

What accounts bring you joy? Do you feel like social media sometimes takes a toll on your mental health?
