The Halloween Decor that is Swarming My Feed

I have never been big into Halloween. Well, let me rephrase that. I am not into the spooky, scary, or gory version of Halloween. I love the dressing up and the candy. I also love Hocus Pocus and carving pumpkins. However, Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands is as scary as it gets for me. Last night, I watched Hotel Transylvania if that helps paint a picture.
This year, my fiancé and I barely decorated, except for the decorations my dad was kind enough to pass on to me, but other than that, we are pretty boring in the decor department. As Halloween creeps closer, I am feeling inspired to add a little extra something to get us in the Halloween spirit. It is our first Halloween in our first home, so it would be fun to make it memorable. I have been seeing a fun Halloween decoration that would be a great DIY project: paper bats! Bat decor is stealing the show this Halloween. I love the house shown below with bats flying out of the front door. Pinning this for inspo next year.

This DIY is so easy and fun. I opted for black and white patterned paper, but solid black, or even a silver, would work too. Luckily, I had everything I needed to create these cute and a little bit spooky bats on hand. Here is a list of supplies I used:
  • Craft paper- solid or prints
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Tape

I drew the bats by hand, but you could also print out a template. Once the bats are cut out, I folded them in a few places to give them some dimension.

I opted to decorate around a few pictures. I love how these bats add a subtle nod to Halloween. From outside decor to a fun bat chandelier, check out some more batty ideas on my Pinterest page.
