Erie Local Spotlight 2022: Small Businesses I've Been Loving Lately
Farmers' markets hold a special place in my heart. My first farmers market love was Elmwood Village. I loved waking up on Saturday morning, walking to my local coffee shop, and strolling down to Bidwell Parkway to pick up fresh veggies, flowers, and pastries. When I moved to Erie, I was so excited to start a new farmers' market ritual.
These days on Saturdays from June through September, I take a short drive along the bayfront to Leaf's Open Market. It is here I have discovered some of my favorite local businesses.
I adore flowers. They brighten up any space and instantly give me a serotonin boost. LoveLetters is one of my favorite local florists. The owner has such an incredible eye and makes the most interesting, vibrant bundles. In one of my bundles, she had a few basil stems mixed in. The fresh herbs combined with sweet florals were heavenly. These are visually stunning and deliciously scented arrangements.
At the last open market, I came across the cutest vendor tent. Yes, there are adorable boutiques at my farmers' market. Does it get any better?! When I was walking by, the neutral tones drew me in. Once I got a closer look, I was falling in love with everything at Burnt Sage Boutique. I ended up leaving empty-handed, but the next day I was having serious regrets. I quickly scoured their website and placed my order for their Fall Things t-shirt. In 3 days, the shirt arrived at my door. I already know I will be wearing this all the time.
I am a lip balm queen. When my coworker told me about these locally made lip balms, I knew I needed to give them a try. I was finally able to purchase one a few weeks ago. In honor of my dog Perry, I had to buy the Oliver Hazard Berry lip balm. Politisticks are made in Erie, PA "by two of the coolest teenagers and their backyard bees." How cool is that?! To top it all off, the ingredients are simple and the formula is so hydrating. This lip balm has been promoted to my daily routine.
I have been a big fan and supporter of Clae Handmade for some time now. Whenever they have a new collection, I always find one (or three) pieces that I need. My most recent purchase was a dainty pair of gold sunflowers. I wear them with everything! According to their IG stories, they will have some new items at the market tomorrow. The sneak peeks had a beautiful neutral, Autumn aesthetic.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I am heading to the Leaf Open Market tomorrow. Follow along on my Instagram to see what I find!
