Erie Local Spotlight 2019: Sara's Restaurant

If you are from Erie, PA or the surrounding area, I am certain Sara's needs no introduction. We first heard about Sara's during the 6 o'clock Erie News Now segment when the restaurant opened its doors for the season. The name kept popping up when we would talk with locals, and we would always think about turning in when going to Presque Isle. We finally popped in for lunch last week, and let's just say I have been drooling over the burger and onion rings ever since.

A colorful, '50s-style fest for the eyes (and stomach).

Cute vintage decor in every corner.

Love the use of license state license plates.

Our tray packed with delicious summer fare.

Lucky for us, it was pretty slow when we stopped in. We placed our order and before we could finish filling up on soda, our food was ready. We headed straight to the toppings bar and I loaded up on lettuce, diced onions, and sliced pickles. Those sliced pickles were so good I almost went back for more. My burger was so juicy and the bun was was light, fluffy, and sturdy enough for all my garnishes. The onion rings were crispy and light and perfectly seasoned. Maybe some of the best onions rings I've tasted. Brandon loved his hotdog and curly fries. He doused his meal in a spicy ranch sauce he discovered when I was loading up on pickles.
Overall, the hype was worth it. The food was delicious, the service was fast, and we left very satisfied. Now we just have to go back and try the ice cream!
