Erie Local Spotlight 2019: U Pick 6 Tap House on State St.
Since moving to Erie, I have been so excited to try all the local fare. So far, we have taste tested local pizza, wings, Thai and Chinese food. The verdict is still out on our favorite pizza joint. More on that to come.
Last Friday, we headed downtown to walk around Perry Square. When hunger struck, we wandered down State St. and found one of the only restaurants that offered outdoor seating: U Pick 6 Tap House. I'm love a good patio meal. People watching + beer = perfect afternoon. When we checked in with the hostess, she offered a table on the front patio or in the beer garden in the back. Umm, did you say garden? Yes, please.
The beer garden is the backyard of my dreams. It was so cozy. Flowers and Boston ivy covered every inch of the walls. There were also a few apartment entrances that made me wish I was still renting. I would live there in a heartbeat.
With the perfect atmosphere also came a great server. Shout out to Joe! He was super helpful, funny and also gave us some great tips on Erie. The beer list at Tap House is impressive. They have 22 beers on tap that are always changing. The beer for the month of June is Leinenkugel's, and at the end of the month they give away the branded glasses. Any beer glass collector's out there?
The food menu had a bit of everything. We opted for two of their specials: the Antipasto Salad and a Taco Pizza. Strange combo, but it worked. The salad was HUGE! It came in a giant stainless steel bowl and the topping where overflowing. We picked the homemade balsamic dressing that I highly recommend it! We ate every bit. And then came the pizza. I was able to snap a quick picture before we devoured it. The pizza was so flavorful and tasty. Fresh stone baked dough, flavorful ingredients and the perfect size for two.
From the beer garden to the food to the service, our experience at Tap House was 10/10. Just writing about it makes me want to go back right now. I think it is safe to say this place is my favorite restaurant in Erie so far. I am excited to try their other locations, but I don't think anything will beat this beer garden. Be sure to check out their happy hour weekdays from 4-6PM with half price beer and pizzas and $3 off flights!
